First Christian Church is located at the cornor of 10th
and Nyssa, 2 blocks south of Pecan St.

We will be celebrating one year of gathering for fellowship!
Farewell to Victor
This Friday will be Victor Quintanilla’s last workday at Holy Spirit. He has worked at Holy Spirit for 18 years. Everyone is again invited to join us in the courtyard at Holy Spirit on Friday at 6:00pm, to join us in thanking Victor for everything that he has done for us over the years and to wish him great success in the future. All are also welcome to join us for supper at a local restrurent following this celebration.

Victor has been a tremendous asset to Holy Spirit Parish for the last 18 years. We all owe him our thanks. Everybody is going to quickly realize just how much work he really did do around there. He will be missed!
Victor didn't know how to say "no"; humbly and with a smile he always said yes to any favor you ask from him at the office. I'm sure many times he was overwhelmed by the amount of work he had, ... even then he smiled and said "yes".
THANK YOU! Victor, you will be missed.

Just a small word of thanks to Victor for not only his 18 years of service, but for being such a gift to our parish family. Victor brought such a willingness to serve and gentle, steadfast strength that will be sorely missed. It speaks volumes about what our parish has become when one of the kindest among us must move on.
Someone recently shared in one of their comments how our hurting parish needed healing and instead was amputated. It will be hard to call or come up to the office and not feel mangled when certain voices are no longer present. We need to pray for healing. But - just as fervently - we need to pray to be agents of healing. The body is an amazing creation. It can withstand tremendous trauma and its response to hurt is always to bring forth its own agents of healing: blood, platelets, white blood cells, regrowth… the list goes on and on. We are the Body of Christ that is Holy Spirit Parish.
We are wounded, but I cannot believe that the Body of Christ can ever be so traumatized that it cannot heal. So, I wanted to share the following words from St. Teresa of Avila. Maybe her words can help us as we struggle to be life-blood and healing for each other.
"Christ has no body now on earth, but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which the compassion of Christ must look out on the world.
Yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good.
Yours are the hands with which He is to bless His people."
"Lord, grant that I may always allow myself to be guided by You, always follow Your plans and perfectly accomplish Your holy will. Grant that in all things, great and small, today and all the days of my life, I may do whatever You require of me. Help me respond to the slightest prompting of Your grace so that I may be Your trustworthy instrument for Your honor. May your will be done in time and in eternity - by me, in me and through me. Amen."

With Victor gone can someone give an accounting on who is left and how they possibly expect to get anything done?
Did you see the story in the Monitor (Sept. 29) where 2 priests (one a Monsignor) were nailed for stealing millions from their parish in Palm Beach? Makes you wonder about this diocese. What happened to the worker pension fund? What is happening with finances at Holy Spirit? We have no accounting on either, plus the Basilica, etc. If you know, God knows that you know, so do the right thing and go to the police. Ditto for sexually abusing clergy.
